Ready to head out in your car? Make sure you double check these crucial things first!

Tires

Before you take your seat inside the car, take a good look at your vehicle’s tires. Does it show signs of being completely worn out? Do the nuts and bolts seem to be in place? Is there a flat tire amongst them?

Driving with a worn out or flat tire will only put you at risk of getting into a road accident, and is a strict no-go area! Don’t forget to check the condition your tires are in before you head out. Also make sure you have a spare tire at hand. You never know when you might need it and the last thing you want is to be stuck out on the road with a punctured tire, with no option to repair or replace it.

Lights

The warning lights are meant to tip you off about any impending trouble your car system might be in. If you notice these flashing as you get in the car, don’t ignore them! Instead, check up on the problem at hand.

For instance, a light may indicate you need to change your oil, refuel your tank, or take your car to the garage for engine inspection.  Similarly, also check to see whether or not the instrument cluster is functioning right, which includes the speedometer, odometer, and the fuel and temperature gauges.

You’ll also need to make sure that your vehicle’s headlights, indicator lights, and brake lights are in order, especially when driving at night. These lights help drivers on the road communicate with each other and make you visible on the road. Therefore, it is absolutely crucial that all of these lights are functioning correctly so that not only you can see better, but also the drivers around you can acknowledge your presence and know when you’re about to make a turn or slow down.

Mirrors

Another thing to check up on before you begin driving is your vehicle’s auto glass. This includes the front and back windshields, the side view mirrors, and the rear view mirror. Make sure that the glass is clean and free of cracks and smudges to ensure good visibility during your drive. If you notice dirt, mist or blots of water on any of the glass screens, wipe them off before you head out!

Moreover, you’ll need to adjust the angles of the mirrors such that they give you an optimal view. This will enable you to see what’s behind you while you drive, and will help you steer on the right path.
